In spring mornings, when the air is dense and misty

In the midst of green woodlands, under oak canopies

Lies assassinating petals, a dangerous beauty

The infamous lily of the valley

Like glass its petals gloss and reflect golden rays

The wind whispers, its bell shaped physique sways

In the quiet hazy early morning hues

Like bubbly, pellucid pearls, upon it rest the fresh dews

Gently its delicate green stalks arch and dip

The core of the flower grows from this bent tip

Its scent invites, so does its bell shaped divinity

It is truly the siren of the forest, an aphrodite

What seems to be so pretty and pure

Is one of nature’s most lethal lures

Notice what lies outside and not what is beneath

For intoxicating venom lies underneath

We all often feel stranded. We feel we lack purpose. Like a man in the middle of the desert with no map, no compass, we want to give up, we don’t know whichever way to go. Sometimes, it goes much farther than just confusion. It gives us this weight in our hearts, so heavy that we feel it is better to drown than to try to reach the shore.

But deep down, we all long for something, a certain void in our hearts yet to be filled, yet to be replaced by that burden.

Look at how dissimilar flowers are. Some drown in too much water, while some need swampy, mucky soils to sustain. Similarly, we are all different flowers from the same garden.

What works for another may not work for you. So it is you who needs to find your fire, identify a tiny spark that may completely change circumstances for you.

We all have a misconception that we know about ourselves pretty well.

Override that conception, dream, explore new things and rediscover yourself.

Find whatever interests you, that sets you apart from the others. You might not be excellent at it at first, but that yearn you feel for the want to grow is enough for you to tell that that is your spark. For that spark can become a flame and change everything.

Finding your “spark” is simple if you pay enough attention to yourself.

Reflect on times you truly felt passionate about something, even if it is just a speck. Try to find out the quality in others that aspires you. Try out different things and journal about how passionate you felt doing them. There might be something out there, that while you do it, you lose track of time. Fall in love with it again and again so much that you begin to romanticize life.

You are worth living

Take your wings and choose to fly, choose to do it for the little kid who lives within you

Relearn about yourself, and start choosing happiness.

Find what you would die for and live for it!

As they say, “Faith can move mountains.”

We all yearn for change, change for the better. But we all have fear within us. Fear becomes our greatest foe. It floods our minds with negative thoughts, constantly pulling us down and wrecking our progress. Change is definitely scary, but so is staying the same.

Most of us don’t realize how much thoughts matter. Sometimes, like I said, the past haunts us. It makes us feel our dreams are too big, that we are too late. It’s never too late to be the person you have wanted to be.

So dump away that pessimistic energy and choose to have a cheery and upbeat idea of life. Choose to be optimistic. It feels better, but most importantly, it takes away the unnecessary burden you have been carrying all alone. Quit thinking what could go wrong; imagine all the things that could go right, exactly the way you wanted. It’s not about under-analyzing things or not comprehending the fruits of your actions. It is about sometimes choosing to take risks and stopping to overcalculate impossible things that may never even happen. If you don’t believe in yourself, then who ever will? Because overthinking is a huge waste of human energy and emotions.

Shifting to a better mindset can do so much more than just change the way you think. We all must have felt that some successful people are lucky. But “lucky” is a mindset. When such people undergo failures, instead of seeing them as a setback, they choose to see them as experiences, as a gain. This way, they absorb so much more from those setbacks than how much one would have actually learned if we stuck to a timid perspective.

Change starts from within. So if you want something to actually change, start by subtly changing your thoughts. It can be pretty hard, but your mind is far more moldable than anything else possibly. And that is the key to kickstart everything to place.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Thoughts become things, so think carefully

Picture this, it is a cool breezy spring evening by the hillside. You stand by the open window as air brushes by your face and you get a mesmerizing view of multi-coloured blossoms growing recklessly by the grass. As you look up, you see the orange sun setting behind the clouds gradually.

They don’t look alike. Yet, they both are considered beautiful.

This is the same thing with us humans. But we fail to notice the distinct diversity within us. We create a confinement of what is considered beautiful, creating harsh unnecessary beauty standards, on our facial and bodily features, our race and what not. We try to become something most of us are not.

We chase sameness in our lifestyle too, copying ways, styles and lives.

We blend into the crowd, losing ourselves in the process.

Has the flower ever tried to look like the sunset?

You are different, you don’t look like them, but that is fine. That is what makes you iconic, what makes you stand out, what makes you, you.

So be gentle with your soul and kind to your mind. Stop chasing their shadows. Consumerist pressures trap us in imitation; true freedom lies in authenticity.

Grant yourself the grace to exist the way you want.

While doomscrolling through an endless field, I stumbled upon a quote that struck me like sunlight though the shadows, and found it novel and intriguing

“Wild flowers don’t care where they grow.”

Wild flowers represent restlessness, being free and being so lively that they cannot be confined by things like their environment.

They make winter feel like spring, blooming even in the most despotic miseries.

Haven’t you seen the prettiest pink delicate lotuses growing in the harshest of the marshes?

Or the airy soft dandelions soaring through the most powerful winds and growing on pavement sides?

Or coquette, pastel prickly pears growing in the driest of deserts?

It does not matter if it is a marsh land, a window side, why even a desert, for they break the norms of conformity chasing dreams amongst all adversities.

The prettiest of the blossoms are not given easy circumstances. But that does not stop them, it does not make them give up on the chance to bloom, it does not prevent them from attaining their goal, no matter how far, or how hard.

“Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will”

Obstacles like this occur in all our lives. And it depends on those who choose to fight it, to wait patiently and chase their dreams irrespective of whatever comes their way, who truly blossom in the end.

We all have something hampering our path, be it in career, in school, in relationships, in our wellbeing.

But at the end of the day, these wildflowers teach us that if we listen to our call to action. We will thrive someday too, we just need to wait.

There will be a future version of you, just like those wildflowers, happy that you did not give up.

From the tender age when we were young, during times of darkness and despair, when we felt we were drowning in suffocation or would never catch up, it is that one little ray of hope that keeps us from the brink of suicide.

If you dwell on the past, overanalyzing situations or fearing things that may not even happen, you make no progress.

Only when you believe you are becoming a better version of yourself can you truly grow and improve.

By “growth,” I mean surrendering to things that can’t be swayed and taking immediate action on things you can.

When you focus on elements in your grip, external ones fall into place.

The best way to learn to let go is to stop being afraid.

Like every other little kid, I was scared of the dark too. My mother used to say, “God is by your side, holding your hand reassuringly.” After hearing that, I felt an invisible warmth envelop me comfortingly. It was that faith that rid my fear, and that belief I clutched onto every night I slept alone as a kid.

To upscale your life, these key actions are essential: Let go of fear, embrace acceptance of external elements, and take immediate action on things you can change.

It floods my mind with nostalgic reminiscence. When i was young, my brother and I used to play fetch on the terrace. We would also want to know who could jump the highest as we both would put in our best to catch the highest flower in our potential reach. Sounds of giggles and laughter, and maybe an etch of jealousy as the other would win.

And every autumn these flowers would soften and fall on our terrace floor. Mum and dad would scoop them up and put them in piles. And me and my brother would lay down on these piles and throw the flowers on each other in frenzied laughter.

With just a glimpse of those flowers, for merely a jiffy, so much crossed my mind.

And then i realised, i had not appreciated this enough. It was not just these flowers, but the little things that may seem to not matter much, but contribute big.

As they say “It is so many drops that make up an ocean.”

No more sighing, I picked up my journal and made a list of all the wonderful things i was grateful of, and when I reached the end, I realised, I had no reason to be all blue, for there were enough colours in my palette to paint my life the way I wanted.
